An outstanding start to the young bird season for Henk Douna from Donkerbroek. On the opening race from Eefde, he achieved an impressive 1st and 2nd Provincial against 13,352 young pigeons, both with direct pigeons bred by Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp. Once again, Henk Douna proves why he has been one of the very best fanciers in the Netherlands in sprint and middle-distance racing for many years.
1. Provincial Eefde against 13,352 pigeons with grandchild of 'Zoe' and 'Beetle'
The provincial winner is NL26-8475317, a hen bred in Brummen from NL24-8209628 'Dark Zoe', a son of Burbon himself a double 1. prize winner, paired to the legendary Zoe This exceptional hen won no fewer than three national titles and was also crowned 1. European Ace Pigeon Short Distance Europe (FCI). The mother to the winner is NL23-9100850 'Bella Beetle', a daughter of 'Grande Leo' and 'Beetle'. Beetle was crowned 1. National Ace Yearling De Allerbeste in 2019 and has since developed into one of the most influential breeding hens at the Eijerkamp lofts. The pedigree of this provincial winner combines the blood of two National Ace Pigeons that have both become exceptional producers in Brummen already.

2. Provincial Eefde against 13,352 pigeons with grandchild of 'Geeloger'
Only two seconds behind the winner, NL26-8475526 was clocked to secure 2. Provincial and this cock is another direct Eijerkamp youngster bred from 'Frisian Geeloger', a co-breed son of the legendary Geeloger paired to Ireen, the 1. National Ace Pigeon Short Distance PIPA 2022 on the lofts of Henk Douna. 'Geeloger' made history in 2023 by winning the title of 1. National Allround Ace Pigeon KBDB before being transferred to the breeding lofts of Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, where he has already established himself as an outstanding breeder. The mother of the 2. Provincial winner is NL22-8459190 'Stacey', a direct Willem de Bruijn hen and a granddaughter of his famous champion 'Olympic Hurricane'.

Outstanding performances with the old birds as well
As if the young bird results were not impressive enough, Henk Douna also excelled in the old bird race from Eefde on the same day. Competing against 4,857 old pigeons, he entered only 15 pigeons and achieved the remarkable series provincial; 4 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 18 - 63 - 73 - 123 - 158, etc. Once again, this performance highlights the exceptional quality of the Douna loft, with a large percentage of the top performers carrying proven Eijerkamp bloodlines.
