In recent years, Henk Douna from Donkerbroek has emerged as one of the top pigeon racers in Friesland, consistently demonstrating remarkable performances in the Short- and Middle-distance categories. Despite having a relatively small loft, Douna’s pigeons regularly secure top positions and achieve impressive series of results.
Henk Douna began the 2024 season with only 24 racing widow hens, but it’s clear that for him, success is about quality, not quantity. This is exemplified by his recent triumph in the National Grand Prix Châlons-en-Champagne, where his second nominated pigeon out of 20 entries clinched 1. National against 9,709 pigeons in Section 11 Friesland. Remarkably, this pigeon also achieved the fastest speed of the entire release, competing against 30,333 pigeons across Sections 9, 10, and 11, finishing with a lead of over two minutes ahead of the second fastest pigeon.

The star of Douna’s loft, "Boreen" (NL23-9099931), was bred in Brummen at the Eijerkamp lofts. She is the product of a joint breeding between Bor and "Ireen". Boreen’s outstanding performance on Douna‘s lofts includes the following achievements:

"Ireen" is a pure Eijerkamp pigeon, with all four of her grandparents purchased by Henk in Brummen. Her genetic lineage combines the best of Leo Heremans-Ceusters and a hint of Stefaan Lambrechts. Her father was bred from "Pyrope" (a grandson of the Euro) and "Tammy" (a daughter of the Lichte Blauwe). Her mother was bred from "Second New Olympiade" (a son of the Nieuwe Olympiade) and "Blue Vivian Jr" (a daughter of Olympic Vivian).

Bor (NL17-1647730), Iconic breeding cock

In Brummen, he has proven to be a world-class breeder, siring, grand-siring, and great-grand-siring many winners, ace pigeons, and top performers. Some of "Bor’s" notable descendants include:
